KANSW OFFICE BEARERS ANNOUNCED

Karting Australia has welcomed New South Wales’ new State association, Karting Australia New South Wales Inc. (KANSW), and its elected Office Bearers, hailing a new era for the sport in the State.

KANSW was launched recently having been formed by four foundation clubs – the Newcastle Kart Racing Club (NKRC), the North Shore Kart Club (NSKC), the Grafton Sporting Car Club and the Classic Kart Club – a new club catering for vintage and historic kart competitors.

The four-person Executive is an impressive assembly of dedicated and respected individuals with extensive experience in Karting – as competitors and officials – and business.  All of them are representatives of the Foundation Clubs.

Newcastle Kart Racing Club Life Member Dave Laughton has been elected inaugural President of KANSW, while North Shore Kart Club Vice President Richard Hazard will fill the same role with the new State body.

Veteran Karter Mark McKeddie has been voted Treasurer and Grafton’s Lyndsey Thompson Secretary, with Newcastle’s Frank Terenzini filling the Public Officer’s position. Respected Karting administrator John Martin was announced as KANSW Administration Manager recently.

President Dave Laughton said KANSW is laying the foundations for a happier and more workable future for Karting in New South Wales.

“KANSW’s foundation is an important step for Karting in our State; it is an association that will be approachable, workable, and intent on providing a good experience for its Member Clubs and Karters,” Laughton said.

“It’s time to move away from the constant turmoil and establish a strong, positive culture, and be an association that adheres to the sport’s strong values.”

KANSW was created out of its Foundation Clubs’ desires to remain affiliated with the national governing body – that need coming out of Karting NSW electing to disconnect from the sport nationally by indicating that it would be disaffiliating from KA.

Karting in NSW has been embroiled in turmoil and controversy for many years, with the on-going disruptions having a significant impact on the health of the sport while creating confusion and disharmony.

KANSW has received the full support of other State Karting bodies, which all believe in unity over divisiveness, and adhering to the strong values and culture the sport promotes.

In working closely with the national body, KANSW will soon make a raft of announcements, including more durable Option Tyres for Club and Zonal competition. KANSW reflects a dynamic group with an inclusive and positive outlook for all levels of Karting – Club, State, and National – for the new year ahead.
